I am writing to you today about the current determination classifying Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF) as veterinary medicine. I respectfully request a reconsideration of this classification based on the clear distinctions between PEMF and traditional veterinary practices.
Firstly, it is important to define PEMF as a non-invasive, drug-free technology used for therapeutic purposes. PEMF does not involve the diagnosis, treatment, or performing tasks solely reserved for licensed veterinarians. Instead, its primary goal is to reenergize cells, enabling them to function optimally and reduce inflammation throughout the body.
Unlike traditional veterinary treatments, PEMF does not rely on local anesthetics, which block non-nociceptive impulses to inhibit pain sensation. Similarly, PEMF therapy does not alter the perception of pain like opioids. Instead, it focuses on restoring cellular function and enhancing overall well-being. Numerous scientific studies and research have been conducted, showing the effectiveness and safety of PEMF in animal care. These studies demonstrate the significant benefits of PEMF therapy in promoting healing, reducing pain, and improving the overall quality of life for animals. Furthermore, testimonials and case studies from professionals and animal owners who have experienced positive outcomes with PEMF therapy further support its credibility and effectiveness.
Given the unique nature of PEMF therapy and its distinct objectives, I believe it is essential to reconsider the classification of PEMF as veterinary medicine. This reclassification will acknowledge the specific role that PEMF plays in supporting the overall health and well-being of animals without encroaching upon the responsibilities of licensed veterinarians.
